Prof Translations

A native Finnish translator and writer with eight years of experience with diverse projects, ranging from marketing material transcreation to translating user interfaces of computer software. Specialises in translation of entertainment, including games, movie subtitles, and literature, and in online content, such as company websites and product descriptions. Worked two years in customer service position in England and has a strong understanding of colloquialisms and dialects in both English and Finnish. Excels in sense-to-sense translations and projects where tone of voice is as important as fluency.

Moiety Translations is a small two-person translation agency based in Jyväskylä, Finland that specializes in English-Finnish translations, though we do Swedish-Finnish translations as well. Both of our translators are native Finnish speakers with Master's degrees in English and Translation (University of Eastern Finland). We have experience on several different types of translations: for example, texts related to medicine, marketing, logistics, and design. We have also worked as interpreters and proofreaders.

I have worked on multiple international projects as media representative. I have translated and written articles in Finnish and English in these projects. However, more importantly as an international student I routinely translate academic articles from English to Finnish and Finnish to English.

I am fluent in Finnish and English with an advanced grasp of colloquialisms in both languages, rendering me able to retain the complexity and nuance in any translations given from one language to the other. I am CEFR C1 and C2 certified, meaning that my language skills are comparable to a native or bilingual English speaker I have experience in content writing for native advertising campaigns (including SEO). I excel at creative writing thanks to my long background in the theater and cinema, both as a performer and a translator. My advanced grasp of both languages allows me to add flourish and glamour to sales pitches, and am competent in writing in a variety of styles, tailoring my writing and translations to the clients' preference, from both verbatim translations to non-verbatim with added substance. I have worked as a translator for theater, and for a small TV and Film studio translating plays for stage performances, short films, and feature-length scripts.

I have over seven years of experience from software development and have a deep understanding of different technical contents. I have done freelance translation work on the side for more than three years now. My strengths are in thoroughly understanding the translated texts and being able to work with a wide variety of formats - doing translation work within source code, configuration files or working with localization frameworks is no problem for me.
